Privacy policy

Phrasebook stores your phrase collection on your device. It does not require an account or send your collection to a developer-operated server.
This policy describes Phrasebook for iPhone and its support pages. The developer and contact for privacy requests is Nikolai Bonderup, reachable at [email protected].
Information stored by the app
The app stores the phrases, translations, romanizations, language choices, creation dates, and custom order you enter. It also keeps normalized copies of phrase text on your device to make searching more efficient. This information is used to display, edit, search, organize, and speak your collection.
The app does not include advertising or third-party tracking or analytics SDKs. It does not collect your location, contacts, photos, microphone recordings, or advertising identifier. It does not sell your information.
Apple translation and speech services
When you use translation suggestions or speech playback, Phrasebook passes the relevant text and language choices to Apple’s system frameworks. Language packs or voices may need to be downloaded. Availability depends on the device, operating system, settings, and language pair. Apple’s services and device backups are governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
Phrasebook does not send phrase text to an additional translation provider or developer-operated cloud service.
Support email
If you email me, I receive your email address and any name, message, screenshots, or other information you choose to provide. I use this information to respond, investigate the issue, and handle related follow-up. Do not send sensitive information that is not needed for your request.
Support correspondence is processed through email providers, including Microsoft for the published support address. Their processing may take place in other countries under their applicable safeguards. See Microsoft’s privacy statement. Support information is retained for as long as needed to address your request, related follow-up, and applicable legal obligations. You can request deletion using the contact address above.
Visits to these web pages
These Phrasebook pages do not set their own advertising cookies or include analytics scripts, third-party fonts, or embedded social widgets. Delivering a web page nevertheless involves technical information such as your IP address, requested URL, browser information, and request time.
The site uses Cloudflare to deliver and protect its pages. Cloudflare may process technical request information for delivery, reliability, and security under its own retention practices. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy. Visiting this website does not give it access to your phrase collection.
Retention and deletion
Your saved phrases remain on your device until you delete them or remove the app. Delete individual phrases from the list. Removing the app can remove its local data. Copies included in device backups are controlled through your Apple device and account settings.
I cannot remotely access, recover, or delete the collection on your iPhone. For information you have sent directly by email, you can request access, correction, or deletion by contacting me. Some information may need to be retained to meet legal obligations or resolve an outstanding issue.
Your choices and rights
You can use manual phrase entry without requesting automatic translation, avoid speech playback, and manage device backups through Apple’s settings. Phrasebook does not require permission for tracking, microphone, location, or contacts.
Where applicable, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability of personal information I hold, or object to its processing. Support correspondence is used for the legitimate purpose of responding to requests and maintaining the app. You may also raise a concern with your local data protection authority.
